Great lesson. I've always wondered if it's ok to use the altered scale over a V7 chord when it's not altered since it contains the perfect 5th. Does playing the b5 and #5 not clash in these cases?

Nicely explained and very accessible! This is always a very difficult concept for a lot of cats to grasp early on, including myself for years. Mainly because of playing cover tunes or just straight up blues or rock based material, you don't get a chance to use it. But it is definitely key to making your Blues way more cool and hip coming from the Robben Ford School! Believe me, I work on it constantly, just because it's one of those things I've never developed 100%! Once again, thanks for explaining it in very digestible chunks to assimilate! Don't forget about the outside chops to create an altered V7 going back to one.
